Elements of Design

Colour:

Colour is produced when light strikes an object and is reflected back to the eye. We define it using hue,(which tells us the colour) intensity, (which tells us how bright the colour is) and value (which gives us the shade/tint of the colour). We use colour to express our emotions.

Line:

 

A line is a continuous stroke or mark that can make many different shapes.

Shape:

 

Shape is a 2 dimensional object with a definitive outline. 

Form:

 

Form is a 3 dimensional object

Texture:

 

 

 

Texture is the feel or illusion of the feeling of a material/surface of something.
